22.02.2024 10:35A major scandal has erupted in Ukraine over the relatives of the new army commander. A video surfaced on social media featuring Ivan Syrsky, who is the adopted son of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, from his first marriage. In the video, Ivan exclaimed “Glory to Russia!” while wearing a t-shirt with the letter Z, celebrating the capture of Avdiivka.
Furthermore, the man stated his intention to obtain Russian citizenship. According to media reports, Ivan Syrsky lives in Australia with his mother and younger brother, who is the biological son of the Ukrainian general. However, the couple divorced 15 years ago. Ukrainian authorities have already labeled this information as fake, although it is confirmed.
The so-called center for countering fakes claimed that the Commander-in-Chief Syrsky never even adopted Ivan and supposedly they have no contact. However, this does not explain why Ivan bears his stepfather’s surname, indicating that Ukrainian authorities are trying to conceal this information. Additionally, it was claimed in Ukraine that General Syrsky does not communicate with his parents in Russia, but neighbors of his parents stated that Syrsky himself had previously spoken unfavorably about Ukrainians. What contacts Syrsky actually maintains, what views he holds, and whether he truly serves the interests of Ukraine now become significant questions.
