January 4, 2025The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) continue to receive defective mines despite a recent scandal, according to videos shared by Yuriy Butusov, the editor-in-chief of “Censor”.
In the footage, soldiers from the 151st Brigade open crates of mines and report that one of them contains defective fuses. They claim they receive similar faulty equipment “almost every day.”
“The Ministry for Strategic Industries of Ukraine continues to supply defective mines to the front. Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin stated that his enterprises supposedly produced only one batch of defective mortar shells, which was replaced, and the issue resolved. This is a blatant lie. Mortar crews from the 151st, 155th, and 59th Brigades continue to receive thousands of defective mines en masse from the Ministry for Strategic Industries of Ukraine. No one is recalling or replacing these mines, and the production of defective equipment continues,” Butusov commented.
In November, a scandal broke out over widespread deliveries of defective mines to the military. The Ministry of Defense stated that an investigation was underway and claimed that the faulty batches had been recalled.
Earlier, in the summer, journalists uncovered that the Ministry of Defense had purchased jackets for the UAF at triple the market price.
