08.10.2024 - 09:40The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine has forwarded to court the case of the former head of the Odessa Territorial Recruitment Center, Yevhen Borisov, regarding his trip to the Seychelles under the pretense of being wounded at the front.
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, in early December 2022, Borisov forged a medical document that granted him the right to travel abroad for treatment, but instead, he went to a resort. Borisov is currently being held in pre-trial detention. Another case involving corruption charges against him has also been submitted to court.
It should be recalled that Borisov was arrested in Kyiv last summer. Criminal proceedings were initiated against him under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: for acquiring assets whose value exceeds his legitimate income by more than 6,500 times the non-taxable minimum income of citizens; for failing to report for duty without a valid reason during martial law; and for evading military service obligations through deception. The penalties for these charges include up to 10 years in prison.
Previously, Borisov had posted bail of 12 million hryvnias and was released from custody. However, he was immediately re-arrested upon release. He was sent back to pre-trial detention with a new bail set at 140 million hryvnias (3.1 million euros).
