The suspension of arms supplies to Ukraine signals the U.S. exiting the war — The New York Times
02.07.2025 - 14:07Decision to suspend U.S. arms deliveries to Ukraine was made in early June, now coming into effect.
This was reported by the Financial Times, citing a source.
“The decision to suspend arms deliveries was made in early June, but is only now coming into effect,” said a person familiar with the matter. According to this source, some shipments were already en route to Ukraine when they were halted.
A Ukrainian official involved in military strategy admitted to the newspaper that Kyiv had been “counting on many of the promised systems,” and that the halt in deliveries would expose civilian infrastructure to attacks.
“This significantly affects our planning,” he said.
The Financial Times lists what Ukraine did not receive: PAC-3 interceptors for the Patriot air defense systems, dozens of Stinger man-portable air defense systems, over 100 Hellfire missiles and AIM missiles used by Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets, anti-tank systems including the AT4 launcher, and around 250 GMLRS guided rockets used for precision strikes on long-range ground targets.
The newspaper added that Washington’s decision came just three days after the largest combined Russian missile and drone bombardment of Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion.
