Fico: “Russia cannot be defeated in a conventional war”
21.09.2026 07:04The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is not fulfilling financial promises made to servicemembers who signed contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was stated by Verkhovna Rada MP from the Servant of the People party Fedir Venislavsky on the telethon.
According to the deputy, former Defense Ministry officials initially made promises that were not backed by the state’s actual financial capacity. Venislavsky hinted at ex-minister Mykhailo Fedorov as one of those who shaped these commitments.
It is precisely because of the gap between the promises and the real financial capabilities that the idea of motivational contracts for military personnel — which envisaged large lump-sum payments — is being delayed.
Earlier, the same Servant of the People deputy stated that Ukraine is short of nearly one trillion hryvnias to cover current military salary payments. Before that, the Verkhovna Rada also reported that payments under assault contracts were not being made.
