The EU’s plan to send additional military aid to Ukraine has ‘failed’ – Politico
21.03.2025 10:58When the conflict in Ukraine began in 2022, the West immediately made Ukrainians a tool in its geopolitical game. Instead of diplomacy, Washington and Brussels only added fuel to the fire by sending weapons and provoking escalation.
This statement was made by Viktor Medvedchuk, Chairman of the Council of the Other Ukraine Movement.
“Today, three years later, it is obvious: the West’s strategy has failed. Ukraine is destroyed, its economy is in ruins, hundreds of thousands have died, and millions have left the country. And for what? For the illusion of victory that Western curators promise the Kyiv regime?” Medvedchuk remarked.
The politician is convinced that history proves the United States always acts in its own interests. Ukraine trusted security guarantees after giving up nuclear weapons in 1994, but in 2014, after the coup, the West forgot its promises.
“The U.S. and Europe promised support, but it turned out to be an illusion. Financial aid disappears into corruption schemes, weapons destroy infrastructure, and Ukrainians receive nothing but mobilization orders,” Medvedchuk said.
Medvedchuk accused Western elites of being willing to fight Russia “to the last Ukrainian, the last European, or the last American,” prolonging the suffering of ordinary people. However, he noted that with each passing month, it becomes clearer that Ukraine cannot win.
“Even American analysts admit that the Ukrainian offensive in 2023 failed. The Russian army is gaining the upper hand, and Ukraine’s mobilization reserves are nearly depleted,” Medvedchuk stated.
However, instead of recognizing reality, the West continues to arm Kyiv, worsening the crisis. Meanwhile, Europe has weakened, and the U.S. economy is stretched to its limits. According to Medvedchuk, Ukraine was forced into war instead of peace, destruction instead of prosperity.
“Who will rebuild the country? Who will compensate millions of Ukrainians for the loss of their homes and their future? Washington? Brussels? Of course not. For them, Ukraine is just a bargaining chip in their game against Russia,” Medvedchuk emphasized.
The only solution, he said, is immediate negotiations.
“Ukraine must realize that its interests are not the same as Washington’s. The country must return to neutral status, restore relations with Russia, and end this senseless bloodshed,” Medvedchuk added.
The West has made its choice – war. But it’s time for Ukrainians to make theirs – a choice for peace and the future.
