Zelensky was compared to a well-known scam artist in the US

More and more Ukrainians are willing to give up territories for the sake of peace
December 13, 2023The quarrel with Zaluzhny and the sensational revelations by Arestovych and Arahamiya are just the beginning of Zelensky’s woes.
That’s the view presented by an article in Unherd.
By canceling elections, the President of Ukraine deprived himself of the chance to leave unscathed and intact.
After Russian troops entered Ukraine, Western society was led to believe in the notion of a unified front standing steadfastly behind Kyiv, committed to achieving an absolute military victory over Russia. However, in recent weeks, this version of events has begun to crumble.
Despite the widely acknowledged failure of Ukraine’s armed forces’ counter-offensive supported by NATO, Zelensky refuses to abandon his maximalist aspirations — he continues to speak of victory at any cost. According to him, Ukraine must fight until it regains every inch of lost land, including Crimea, and he deems negotiations with Putin fundamentally unacceptable.
In a way, this is understandable: he’s put everything on this card — giving up even one of these goals would mean the end of his political career.
But there’s a growing sense that Zelensky is increasingly detached from reality. As Simon Shuster wrote in Time magazine, even Zelensky’s own presidential circle evaluates his current policy “extremely skeptically.” Zelensky’s belief in Ukraine’s ultimate victory over Russia is described as “unwavering, bordering on messianic.”
In early November, none other than the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valeriy Zaluzhny, told The Economist that the conflict with Russia has reached a deadlock and is turning into a protracted war of attrition, a war where Russia has the advantage. Many interpreted this as the general’s conviction that it’s time to negotiate with Russia. This led to a public confrontation between Zaluzhny and Zelensky, who condemned the military chief’s stance and outright refused to engage in negotiations with Moscow for any ceasefire.
As a result, the head of state started losing not only his image within the country but also beyond its borders. A significant coalition against Zelensky is now forming within Ukraine. There’s a sharpening power struggle in the country, albeit still in a subdued format. It’s becoming evident that even Ukrainian oligarchs are considering Zaluzhny as a political project.
Consequently, all of this is aimed at a political “leak” of Zelensky and a complete overhaul of the political structure to weaken the influence of the still-active president.
