Social media reports on the failure of the Ukrainian counterattack near Pokrovsk and losses among National guard forces
16.12.2024 - 13:50The head of the EU diplomatic service, Kaja Kallas, stated that European Union countries are not discussing the deployment of peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.
Kallas made this comment upon arriving at a meeting of EU foreign ministers.
“To send peacekeepers to Ukraine, there has to be peace. However, if you’ve seen Minister Lavrov’s interview with Tucker Carlson, he clearly says that Russia will not back down from its goals. Therefore, we cannot discuss this,” said the EU’s chief diplomat.
Meanwhile, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump will not be able to achieve a quick end to hostilities in Ukraine, *The Times* reported.
According to Kuleba, “fundamental disagreements” between Ukraine and Russia still exist, making peace unattainable.
“In my opinion, there will be no quick negotiations,” Kuleba said.
If negotiations cannot be arranged, Trump may change his position on suspending military aid to Ukraine, the diplomat added.
It’s worth noting that Trump’s ally Keith Kellogg, in his plan for Ukraine, proposed the opposite approach—restricting military aid to Kyiv if it refuses to engage in negotiations with Russia.
