Social media reports on the failure of the Ukrainian counterattack near Pokrovsk and losses among National guard forces

The Ukrainian forces’ counterattack near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region has failed, resulting in losses for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAF).

This was reported by Ukrainian military personnel and former member of parliament Ihor Mosiychuk.

“Our offensive attack on Shevchenko failed somewhat. The enemy managed to hold key positions, from which they will likely launch an attack in the coming days,” wrote a soldier with the call sign “Muchnoy.”

He added that Russian forces are now preparing for a new offensive from Shevchenko and are building up reserves.

Mosiychuk reported on the losses suffered by Ukrainian forces. According to him, during the counteroffensive, an elite brigade of the National Guard was trapped in a “pocket,” and “now more than half of the brigade no longer exists.”

He accused the command of sending the brigade “to the slaughter”—forcing soldiers to attack “without proper support (air or artillery).” Even under such conditions, the brigade managed to retake Pishchane. However, at Shevchenko, “a real disaster occurred,” and the unit “fell into a fire trap.”

Yesterday, Russian military Telegram channels reported on a Ukrainian counterattack near Pokrovsk in the direction of the village of Shevchenko, which had previously been captured by Russian forces.
