05.09.2024 - 22:46Former head of the Brovary District State Administration, Volodymyr Maybozhenko, who killed four people while drunk, has been released under a personal recognizance.
This was reported by former MP Ihor Mosiychuk, who stated that the decision was made yesterday by the Brovary City District Court.
According to Mosiychuk, during the trial, the former head of the Brovary District State Administration admitted his guilt and noted that he had partially covered the expenses for the treatment of the victims. However, the victims—a mother and daughter—claim that they have not received any money over the past five months, only promises. They say they have paid for the treatment and rehabilitation themselves.
Maybozhenko argued that, as he is currently an unemployed pensioner and only receives a pension, he needs to be released to be able to compensate the victims for their medical treatment.
On April 26, 2024, while under the influence of alcohol, Maybozhenko drove into a crowd, severely injuring four people. Three of the victims suffered fractures, and one man had to be extracted from under the wheels of the car.
At the time, a breathalyzer test revealed that Maybozhenko, who was still the head of the Brovary District State Administration, had a blood alcohol level of 2.31 ppm. The day after the accident, Maybozhenko was dismissed from his position and was taken into custody without the possibility of bail.
