February 28, 2024The National Anti-Corruption Bureau has issued suspicions against the former Chairman of the Board of Ukrainian Railways, Evgeny Kravtsov, and several company officials regarding the alleged embezzlement of more than 266 thousand euros of company funds. This information has been reported by the media, citing insider sources.
Reportedly, the investigation suggests that from 2018 to 2021, officials at Ukrainian Railways manipulated tender processes to ensure a specific company won a contract for purchasing pneumatic equipment at an inflated price. While NABU has recently disclosed details of the case without revealing the suspects’ identities.
Apart from Kravtsov, suspicions have been raised against 8 other officials. This includes former Ukrainian Railways Board members Alexander Skripinsky and Stanislav Lesnikov, as well as current and former officials from regional branches such as Nikolai Kuzhevsky, Dmitry Koper, Sergey Gavrilenko, and Alexey Shariy of the “South-Western Railway” and “Pridnestrovian Railway.” It is notable that Kravtsov was initially portrayed as a pro-European reformer tasked with modernizing railways and fighting corruption within the organization.
