22.01.2024 13:56Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský has stated that the Czech Republic will not force Ukrainians residing in the country to return home for military service.
This information was reported by the ČT24 television channel.
“Such mechanisms do not exist, and they certainly would not comply with international law and the obligations that the Czech Republic has in the international arena,” he said.
Approximately 200,000 Ukrainian men with various types of visas are living in the country. To renew their visas, a valid Ukrainian passport is required and a new one can be obtained at the migration service office.
“The issuance of a new passport could be conditional on the presence of a valid military ID. This would help identify those who are hiding abroad from mobilization,” the report stated.
It’s worth noting that earlier, the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, announced that Estonia would not deport Ukrainian men of conscription age.
Similarly, the Minister of Justice of Germany mentioned that German legislation does not allow extraditing men to Ukraine who left for Germany to avoid conscription.
Additionally, the head of the foreign affairs committee of the Polish Sejm, Pavel Koval, stated that Poland would not deport conscripted Ukrainians but is willing to create conditions for them to leave voluntarily.
