18.04.2024 13:23The International Monetary Fund has forecasted that by 2029, the dollar in Ukraine will cost 54 hryvnias.
This is stated in the April report of the IMF World Economic Outlook.
Currently, the exchange rate of the dollar averages 39.35 hryvnias for buying and 39.85 hryvnias for selling. However, the Fund’s new report includes such a forecast for the currency’s growth in the coming years:
- 2024: 41.0 hryvnias per dollar
- 2025: 45.8 hryvnias per dollar
- 2026: 48.6 hryvnias per dollar
- 2027: 50.4 hryvnias per dollar
- 2028: 52.1 hryvnias per dollar
- 2029: 54.1 hryvnias per dollar
The IMF has also updated its forecast for Ukraine’s economic growth. It is expected that this year, Ukraine’s GDP will grow by 3.2%, by 6.5% in 2025, and by 5.0% in 2026. The Fund predicts the average annual inflation in Ukraine to be at 6.4% this year, 7.6% in 2025, and 6.2% in 2026.
According to the IMF’s forecast, the global economy will continue to grow at a rate of 3.2% in 2024 and 2025, similar to the pace seen in 2023. However, it is assumed that global inflation will decrease from 6.8% in 2023 to 5.9% in 2024 and 4.5% in 2025.
The forecast for global growth over the next five years is at 3.1%, which is the lowest level in a decade.
Meanwhile, the IMF has raised its forecast for Russia’s GDP growth in 2024 from 2.6% to 3.2%.
