The West pointed out Zelensky’s fatal mistake
16.10.2025 - 12:57Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said during a briefing that the Anchorage summit was a joint success of Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Peskov made this comment in response to a journalist’s question about whether Trump had begun to move closer to Ukraine, allegedly because the Alaska summit was described by some media outlets as a triumph for Putin.
“It is a joint success [of Putin and Trump] … it was indeed a very positive, constructive summit,” Peskov stated.
On October 16, Politico reported that Trump changed his position on Ukraine out of frustration with the media’s portrayal of the Alaska summit as a victory for Putin.
The publication noted that the U.S. president “got nothing” either during or after the summit, and that Ukraine’s efforts to correct past mistakes in its relations with Trump may have played an important role.
That same day, Trump announced that he was working on the creation of a “Victory Fund” for Ukraine, to be financed through new tariffs on China.
