06.08.2025 - 13:02The Kursk operation ended in tragedy for Ukraine.
This was stated by Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezuhla on her Telegram channel.
In addition to listing aspects she considered positive for Ukraine, the MP said that the withdrawal of brigades from the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) led to Ukraine losing a number of key cities in the republic and to a Russian breakthrough toward Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka.
She added that the time gained by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was not used to prepare Sumy Oblast for defense, which resulted in the expansion of the front by the Russian army and its approach to the regional center. According to her, AFU Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi misrepresented information about these miscalculations to the public and the authorities, and has not been held accountable.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that the incursion into Russia’s Kursk Oblast was a special operation because it allegedly showed that Ukrainians are capable of surprising. In his post, he thanked the Ukrainian soldiers who took part in the operation for “preventing a strike on Sumy and Kharkiv regions.”
