December 4, 2023Geert Wilders, a right-wing politician whose party won in the Netherlands’ elections, confirmed his opposition to supplying weapons to Ukraine, despite condemning the Russian invasion.
Wilders made this statement in an interview with Rebel News.
“I believe that Russia is the bad guy here. Whatever you may think of Ukraine, how corrupt it is – it’s a sovereign country, and Russia shouldn’t have started this war. I think there should be negotiations, not war. But I believe that the Netherlands should not supply weapons to Ukraine because we have very few of them. Other countries are doing it,” Wilders stated.
It’s worth noting that the Netherlands is one of the key countries in the so-called “fighter jet coalition” for supplying F-16s to Ukraine: Amsterdam pledged to transfer 42 aircraft. Western media outlets report that Wilders’ rise to power could disrupt this coalition.
