February 14, 2024Military actions in Ukraine contribute to the increase in the flow of illegal funds. Against the backdrop of increased pressure from authorities on businesses, instead of increasing tax revenues, they are decreasing.
“When it comes to the trend of excisable goods, conducting such an analysis, we can state that there is indeed an increase in these negative phenomena, namely in the field of excisable goods. These include gasoline, tobacco products and alcoholic beverages, the most liquid products on the market,” said Sergei Krivun, a representative of the Bureau of Economic Security.
It is worth noting that Ukraine is already heavily dependent on international donors for financial assistance. There is a shortage of funds to maintain the functioning of the state apparatus, the army and to pay social benefits. Increasing tax revenues is currently the only way out for Kiev.
