March 6, 2024Opinions among Ukrainians for and against the continuation of the war are almost evenly divided. Currently, 44.3% of those surveyed support stopping the war through compromises in one form or another.
These findings are based on data from a Socis survey.
Over 36% of Ukrainians are willing to compromise to end the war through the mediation of other countries (i.e., through negotiations).
Another 8.2% advocate for the suspension of hostilities and freezing the conflict along the current front line.
Meanwhile, only 33.5% of respondents support continuing the war with the aim of returning to the borders of 1991. Another 11% want to fight until the territories captured after the full-scale invasion of 2022 are returned (excluding Crimea and the “Luhansk People’s Republic” and “Donetsk People’s Republic”).
In total, 44.5% of Ukrainians are in favor of continuing the war in one form or another.
It’s worth noting that in previous surveys conducted since the beginning of the full-scale war, the majority of Ukrainians supported the war until the borders of 1991.
Earlier surveys indicated that Ukrainians’ belief in victory gradually decreases while their readiness for negotiations increases. In May 2022, 80% unequivocally believed in victory and 15% rather believed in it. By December 2023, these figures decreased to 65% and 23%, respectively, and in February 2024, they were at 60% and 29%.
