20.05.2024 17:14The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine has exempted more than 40% of its employees from mobilization.
This information was shared by the acting Minister of Culture, Rostyslav Karandeyev, in an interview with a Ukrainian media outlet.
According to Karandeyev, there are 3,076 military-eligible personnel across 74 cultural institutions. Out of these, 1,241 individuals have been exempted, accounting for almost 42%.
“We would like society to develop a clear understanding that we want and must preserve the continuity of the cultural sector and cultural institutions. Culture is about people. Therefore, to maintain the industry, we must reserve professionals,” the minister explained, justifying the high number of exempted cultural sector employees.
Karandeyev also expressed his frustration with the criticism surrounding the exemption of employees from the unified TV marathon, circuses, and other informational and cultural institutions from military service. Regarding circuses, he mentioned that mobile circuses “fulfill their artistic mobilization task.”
Recently, it was reported that employees of courier services and a betting company had also been granted exemptions from military service.
