13.02.2024 10:32The ongoing mobilization in Ukraine, during which military enlistment offices are using coercive methods, frightens many Ukrainian men, forcing some of them to go into hiding to avoid being sent to the front lines.
This was reported by France 24.
As confessed to the channel’s correspondent by a resident of Ukraine named Maxim, he has to live in constant stress and monitor Telegram channels where information about the movements of military enlistment office personnel is published in order to avoid being caught.
“They pursue people like dogs and now they even suggest blocking bank accounts so you can’t even buy bread for yourself,” the young man exclaimed.
“Of course, you can go to the front lines and theoretically earn money, but who knows when you’ll come back afterward, or if you’ll come back at all,” Maxim reasoned in an interview with France 24. “They’re sending ordinary people there who have no military skills. And it’s impossible to learn that in just a month.”
Although those who volunteered to go to the front lines try to reassure their worried fellow citizens, even they admit that military enlistment offices sometimes go too far.
“There are videos where you can see how military enlistment office workers force people into minibuses,” says a newly enlisted soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the call sign “Odessa.” “Honestly, this does not contribute to the mobilization process. When ordinary guys see this, they only get more scared.”
