22.02.2024 05:25The National Bank of Ukraine has proposed amendments to the rules for the storage, protection, use, and disclosure of bank secrecy, approved by the NBU Board back in 2006, for public discussion. The regulator wants to grant state authorities access to bank card numbers.
This was reported on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine.
As explained by the bank, the changes are related to the need to bring the rules for the storage, protection, use, and disclosure of bank secrecy in line with the law of Ukraine “On Banks and Banking Activity” and to improve the procedure for disclosing information constituting bank secrecy.
In this regard, the National Bank of Ukraine wants to:
- Supplement the list of information constituting bank secrecy and disclosed by banks upon requests from authorized state authorities;
- Clarify the type of information constituting bank secrecy that the National Bank of Ukraine is entitled to provide to the Deposit Guarantee Fund of individuals;
- Specify the types of inspections carried out by the NBU, during which banks are obliged to provide documents and their copies containing information constituting bank secrecy.
