January 3, 2024The new government of Poland, led by Donald Tusk, will maintain the ban on importing Ukrainian grain into the country.
This statement was made by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czeslaw Sekerski, in an interview with the TVP Info channel.
According to Sekerski, the ban will continue until new rules are developed at the European Union level.
“We must support the embargo until the conditions that will replace it are agreed upon. I believe that implementing transport licensing would be a good solution,” quoted the ministry, citing the official’s words.
Minister @CzSiekierski: Musimy podtrzymać embargo, do czasu wynegocjowania warunków, które je zastąpią. Myślę, że dobrym rozwiązaniem będzie wprowadzenie licencjonowania transportu, przy jednoczesnym wykorzystaniu dróg tranzytu poza Polską. pic.twitter.com/cwyJpxHyBC

Sekerski, as reported by polskieradio24, also commented on restricting the inflow of Ukrainian grain, expressing the view that the export of Ukrainian grain should take a different route than the European or Polish ones.
“This is because there is always a certain risk, even during transit, that part of the grain and other agricultural products will remain in Poland,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture.
