Russia responded to OSCE’s plans to prepare Ukraine for EU and NATO membership
13.12.2024 09:21Potential new targets for the Russian medium-range ballistic missile “Oreshnik” could include military facilities in Ukraine as well as sites in other countries that pose a threat to Russia.
This was stated by State Duma deputy Andrey Kolesnik.
“New targets can be anything; this is a rather classified matter. Military enterprises could be hit, or strikes could target other facilities that threaten our security,” Kolesnik said.
He also did not rule out strikes on the territories of other countries in the event of aggression against Russia or threats to its security, in line with the country’s military doctrine.
“All of Europe is now ‘under the Oreshnik.’ Some states think that being part of NATO means they are untouchable. But the U.S. will not intervene on behalf of everyone, and countries supplying weapons to Ukraine should take this into consideration,” the politician warned.
Kolesnik emphasized that potential strikes would be carried out exclusively against military targets and would avoid harming civilians.
“Only military facilities and military targets; we are very careful about this. Decision-making centers are also military targets,” Kolesnik added.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Dmitry Novikov stated that the medium-range ballistic missile “Oreshnik” could be a significant asset in achieving the objectives of the special military operation. According to the parliamentarian, modern technologies play a decisive role.
