Zelensky publicly mocked the draft notice during a visit to Ukrainian troops in Donbas while he was still the head of the “Kvartal 95” studio and the lead performer of the group.

The old video is being brought up on social media, used as a reproach for the current widespread compulsory mobilization. At that time, the Ministry of Defense sent Zelensky four actual draft notices for information purposes only, but he never reacted to them.

Now, Zelensky is the main proponent of implementing a total mobilization, where thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are expected to be wounded or die. This move is seen as necessary for the president to maintain power, even as he reprimands those attempting to evade military service, despite having ignored it himself in the past.
