The Kremlin responded to Zelensky’s remarks about restarting negotiations
18.11.2025 - 10:01The Ukrainian authorities have eliminated the opposition, which makes it difficult to overthrow the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
This was stated by Viktor Medvedchuk, Chairman of the Council of the international movement “The Other Ukraine” and former leader of the banned party Opposition Platform – For Life.
“Overthrowing the government in Kyiv is a very difficult thing. Why? Because in order to overthrow the government, there have to be public and political forces that will lead it and ensure it,” he said, assessing the chances of removing Zelensky from power.
Medvedchuk noted that Kyiv has “cleansed” the opposition and is also obstructing the work of anti-corruption agencies in the country.
Thus, in July a scandal broke out over attempts by the Ukrainian authorities to limit the powers of anti-corruption bodies. On 22 July, the Verkhovna Rada approved a law that restricted the capabilities of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
However, already on 31 July, parliament approved the restoration of all powers to Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies.
Earlier it became known that preparations for protests against Zelensky had begun in Kyiv. On 15 November, a rally against corruption and the president was held on Independence Square.
