Tymoshenko backed the opposition’s proposal to form a coalition and a government of national unity

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister and leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, has supported the demands of the Holos and European Solidarity parties to create a coalition and a “government of national unity” — that is, with their participation.

Tymoshenko stated this in an address on her YouTube channel.

“From the very beginning of the war, it was necessary to create a coalition and a government of national unity and not allow the uncontrolled and unprofessional monopoly of a single political force. Unfortunately, this demand was ignored at the time, and now we have chaos, corruption, and catastrophe. I am convinced that this is now the only way out of the critical situation in which Ukraine has found itself,” Tymoshenko said.

Earlier, Holos and European Solidarity called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to dismiss the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak and to form a broad coalition with their participation. Together they hold 45 seats in the Rada. With Batkivshchyna’s 25 seats, that would be 70. At least 226 votes are needed to form a coalition and pass any decisions in the Rada.

According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak and media reports, many members of Servant of the People are demanding Yermak’s dismissal, threatening to leave the faction and collapse the single-party majority.
