The Pope spoke out against the ban on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ukraine

Pope Francis, commenting on the Ukrainian law that paves the way for the possible ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, urged that “no Christian church should be banned, either directly or indirectly.”

“Let no Christian church be abolished, either directly or indirectly,” the Pope stated.

In his speech, he expressed concern about the adoption of the law that could lead to the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“I continue to watch with sorrow the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine and the Russian Federation, and, thinking about the recently adopted laws in Ukraine, I fear for the freedom of those who pray, because those who truly pray always pray for everyone. You do no harm by praying,” Francis said in his statement.
