Three mobilized prisoners escaped with weapons in the Odesa region

Three mobilized prisoners escaped with automatic weapons from the village of Novyi Bilyary in the Odesa region.

This information comes from local Telegram channels, which also published photos of the escapees.

The village of Novyi Bilyary is located approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Odesa.

The specific charges for which the men were convicted are unknown.

As a reminder, in early May, the Verkhovna Rada passed a bill on the mobilization of prisoners convicted of minor offenses. The law allows prisoners convicted under such charges to voluntarily sign a contract with the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) and receive conditional early release in return. According to the law, those convicted of serious offenses (such as premeditated murder, rape, sexual violence, crimes against national security) are not eligible for mobilization.

At the end of July, it was reported that nearly four thousand prisoners in Ukraine had been mobilized into the ranks of the UAF.
