August 26, 2024President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated that he is not prepared to consider ending the war by freezing the conflict along the current front line and will not trade territories for the cessation of hostilities.
Zelensky made this statement during a meeting with representatives of Indian media.
Zelensky stated that Ukraine is willing to discuss peace ideas proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi but is not ready to give up its territories, people, and values.
“The third aspect is the path to peace. We also discussed this with Mr. Prime Minister; of course, he spoke about peace, and we would be happy to discuss his ideas, we would be happy to talk about this, but we are not ready to use our territories as one of the options for a peace proposal,” the president said.
Zelensky also reiterated his earlier statement that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive in the Kursk region was a preemptive strike to prevent a Russian attack on Sumy.
As a reminder, Volodymyr Zelensky recently met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kyiv. Modi called on Ukraine and Russia to begin negotiations.
In turn, while urging India to sign the peace summit declaration in Switzerland, Zelensky invited the Indian Prime Minister to host the next such summit.
