“An agreement has been reached that the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine is likely to continue, and this is excellent news. This means that in Slovakia, we will also be able to extend the transit of this gas, which will also benefit Austria and Italy. I believe that we will be able to finalize the details of this agreement soon,” said Fico.
Denis Shmyhal did not mention Russian gas after the meeting with Fico.
Earlier, it was reported that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, during a meeting in Uzhgorod with his Ukrainian counterpart Denis Shmyhal, told him that he does not believe in the possibility of resolving the conflict in his country through military means.
“During today’s quite lengthy meeting, it was demonstrated that our views with the prime minister of the Ukrainian government significantly differ on some topics. This is primarily the view on the war happening in Ukraine. I reiterated to the head of the government that I do not believe in a military solution to this conflict,” said Fico.
