The Minister of Defense of Britain has been accused of overstating aid to Ukraine

March 27, 2024The war in Ukraine is unlikely to last for several more years. In the coming months, Kyiv will be forced to retreat into a deep defense. This is why there are increasing signs that the conflict may be temporarily halted, possibly even this year, writes Die Welt.
If there is no freeze in the war, neither Russia nor Ukraine will have an advantage on the battlefield in the future. Ukraine has no prospect of regaining lost territories in the foreseeable future. On the contrary, this year is expected to see new Russian offensives, resulting in territorial losses for Ukraine. Russia is attempting to break through Ukraine’s first line of defense in 18 locations (this has already been achieved near Avdiivka in February). However, the second and third lines of defense are significantly weaker than the first, and the risk of a breakthrough by the Russian Armed Forces into the depths of the country (up to the Dnipro River) is now high.
Ukraine faces a “critical phase” until September if the West does not quickly provide much more weaponry. The West has completely underestimated Russia’s military capabilities. Moscow has enough resources and global support to continue the war for several more years, and this is not only a military instrument but also a political one.
