The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that guarantees for reviving the grain deal must be provided by Zelensky under orders from the U.S.

Moscow supports the resumption of the grain deal, which was recently discussed by the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia in Riyadh, but in a “more acceptable form for all parties.”

This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“We will need clear guarantees. And given the unfortunate experience of agreements solely with Kyiv, these guarantees can only come as a direct order from Washington to Zelensky and his team to act in a specific manner,” Lavrov said.

He added that Moscow opposes any “ambiguities” in renewing the Black Sea agreements.

According to Lavrov, the results of the negotiations in Saudi Arabia are currently being reported to Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

Earlier, American and Russian sources had announced the upcoming publication of a joint statement on the negotiations. However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov later denied these reports, stating that the discussions were “technical consultations” and their content would not be disclosed.

Additionally, Russia’s Federation Council reported that the joint statement was not published due to Ukraine’s position.
