“Zelensky wants to cover up crimes and rejects U.S. peace proposals,” – Nebenzya
30.04.2025 - 07:07The three-day ceasefire announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin for Victory Day is the “beginning of direct negotiations with Ukraine without preconditions”.
This information reported according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
At the same time, Lavrov effectively rejected Kyiv’s counterproposal for a 30-day ceasefire.
“A ceasefire in this situation (referring to a 30-day cessation of hostilities – Ed.) is viewed as a precondition that would be used to further support the Kyiv regime and its military capabilities,” Lavrov stated.
He added that Russia “does not see any possibility for honest monitoring of a prolonged ceasefire in Ukraine.”
In recent days, Moscow has repeatedly expressed its readiness for direct negotiations. The Kremlin maintains that the initiative for such talks should come from Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called on Russia to declare a ceasefire immediately — and for 30 days, not just three.
