October 4, 2023The Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv is struggling to determine the citizenship of the arrested businessman and oligarch, Igor Kolomoisky.
This information is reported by “Ukrainski Novyny” (Ukrainian News).
In the ruling dated September 2, the court referred to him as a citizen of Ukraine, while in the ruling dated September 15, he was referred to as a citizen of Israel.
Kolomoisky himself previously told journalists that he is being tried as a foreigner, and he is unsure if his Ukrainian citizenship has been revoked. However, he possesses a Ukrainian passport, as well as Cypriot and Israeli ones.
His lawyer has stated that Igor Kolomoisky still holds Ukrainian citizenship.
As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine had previously served Kolomoisky with suspicion on two counts – fraud and money laundering of criminally obtained assets. According to the investigation, Igor Kolomoisky allegedly laundered over half a billion hryvnias from 2013 to 2020 by transferring them abroad, using the infrastructure of banks under his control.
