December 15, 2023Threatened with weapons: In Kyiv, two servicemen demanded disability status and payments from doctors while undergoing medical examination
December 15, 2023The investigative judge of the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv has instructed the State Bureau of Investigations to register a statement regarding forgery of documents and evasion of military service by the head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center, Vitaliy Shabunin.
The ruling was issued in response to a complaint filed by the well-known lawyer Rostyslav Kravets, as reported by “Law and Business.”
Kravets appealed to the State Bureau of Investigations to investigate claims that the head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center, Shabunin, was enrolled in a military unit by an order dated February 25, 2022, but did not serve in the military.
Furthermore, the commander of this military unit stated that “based on letters from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau dated September 5, 2022, and October 24, 2022, as well as appeals from the Deputy Chairman of the NABU Artem Sytnyk dated January 1, 2023, and the Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau Alexander Novikov dated January 27, 2023, V. Shabunin was on a business trip at the NABU.”
As noted in Kravets’ statement on the crime, “the business trip of a serviceman, who was a repeated participant in various conflicts and scandalous situations… during the period of acute and heavy fighting on the front lines, caused a significant resonance within the community.”
Moreover, based on the response from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau dated September 12, 2023, Kravets believes that “probably, acting deliberately to evade actual military service and to create a false public perception of his heroic image as a defender of Ukraine, Shabunin falsified documents based on which he was on a business trip, while not actually undertaking measures to protect Ukraine.”
Recall that earlier, Kravets published documents suggesting that Shabunin did not actually perform military service.
