The telethon is ineffective, but it will not be canceled

Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, the head of the freedom of speech committee, believes that the national telethon needs improvement. Otherwise, it “will not survive next year.”

In his opinion, the channels participating in the telethon need mechanisms for more balanced information presentation. Furthermore, he noted that “many of his colleagues” demanded him to submit a statement advocating for the closure of the telethon, but he has no plans to do so.

It’s worth recalling that the telethon is an alliance of all major television channels in Ukraine, forcibly organized by the authorities at the onset of the war. It is entirely controlled by the vertical power structure of the president and broadcasts propaganda that works in favor of President Zelensky’s regime.
