The Times called Zaluzhny ‘Iron General’ and accused Zelensky of attempting to remove a popular rival

The British Times has dubbed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, the “Iron General” and accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of attempting to remove a more popular competitor.

The publication reports that “the president sees the commander-in-chief of his army as a potential rival and may be preparing to dismiss him.” Times writes that “Zaluzhny, nicknamed the ‘Iron General,’ can boast 88 percent support today.” In contrast to Zelensky, who is “the country’s most effective salesman” and has an approval rating of 62 percent.

According to the newspaper, Ukraine is experiencing “an unrestrained struggle for power,” which could “alienate Western allies.”

“Public quarrels weaken Western support and encourage Russian invasion forces,” the article states.

Yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelensky, during his evening address stated that Ukraine needs a personnel overhaul in many areas.

Earlier, many foreign publications reported that the president’s plans to refresh Ukraine’s military leadership were making Western partners nervous.
