28.08.2024 11:59The Russian army captured Novogrodovka in the Pokrovsk direction within a few days, despite the presence of fortifications.
This was reported by Member of Parliament Maryana Bezuhla.
According to her, the city was captured because “the trenches in front of Novogrodovka were empty.” There were also “no signs of preparation for defense or the presence of our military in the city.”
“In the once twenty-thousand-strong city, there was practically no Ukrainian army. The 31st Brigade was withdrawn from the city, the brigade commander, whom the team supported, was removed, and a criminal case was initiated against him (I remind you, there is still not a single case against Sodol). Instead, an inexperienced unit was sent here,” Bezuhla wrote.
She said that such rotations “lead to breakthroughs and deaths.”
Bezuhla also stated that these “empty” fortifications include Selydove, which the Russians have already “entered.”
“A week ago, I went to the outskirts of Selydove in the direction of Novogrodovka and saw fortifications in front of the city. There was nothing in the city, just an ordinary civilian settlement. I entered the trenches; no one was guarding them, and there was no one there. I walked underground and came out into the field. The Russians were already beyond the field. There was no one else. I didn’t step on any mines, didn’t meet any territorial defense fighters—the only life in the prepared fortifications around Selydove, which the Russians have been aiming for ten years, were solitary insects. Any civilian could have done what I did,” the MP reported, sharing photos of the empty trenches near Selydove.
As a reminder, Deep State reported that Russian forces had captured Memryk and Kalynove in the Pokrovsk direction.
