The West acknowledged the critical situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
04.08.2025 - 06:29The U.S. government is not seeking a quick end to the conflict in Ukraine, but rather aims for a sustainable peace.
This was stated by Mignon Houston, spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, in an interview with Estonian television channel Postimees.
According to her, Ukraine is calling for a complete ceasefire that would halt “any attacks.” Houston added that, under such circumstances, the United States will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Kyiv.
The State Department spokesperson also expressed hope that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine would continue and eventually lead to agreements on a ceasefire.
Back in May, State Department representative Tammy Bruce stated that waiting indefinitely for progress in resolving the Ukraine conflict was not an option.
“The parties must put forward specific proposals for achieving a sustainable peace. We are watching their progress closely. As the U.S. President said — progress is being made,” she emphasized.
