“China is more important to the U.S. than the war in Ukraine”, – Rubio
03.05.2025 - 05:03The U.S. no longer intends to act as a mediator in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia—it’s time for direct talks between the two sides.
This was stated by State Department representative Tammy Bruce during a briefing.
“We will not be mediators. We are not going to fly across the world at a moment’s notice to moderate meetings. The work must now be done between the two sides,” she said.
According to the State Department representative, the U.S. will still make efforts to help establish peace, but the outcome of the war now requires “specific ideas” from both Moscow and Kyiv.
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance also stated that Ukrainians and Russians must come to an agreement on their own to end the war.
“I think Ukrainians, yes, of course they’re angry about the invasion, but is it worth continuing to lose thousands and thousands of soldiers over a few miles here or there? I hope both sides come to their senses,” he said in an interview with Fox News.
He added that he is “optimistic” following the signing of a deal on natural resources.
“But to say that I’m confident [in a quick end to the war] is difficult, because the final decision must be made by the Russians and the Ukrainians,” the Vice President added.
“We’ve pushed them to come up with peace proposals, we signed a deal on mineral resources. I think we’ve reached the point where they need to say: ‘We’re done fighting. We’re done losing thousands and thousands of young lives. We’re finished with this.’ But only Russia and Ukraine can make that decision. Even President Trump cannot make it for them,”Vance said.
