The United States is insisting that elections be organized in Ukraine and supports granting voting rights to Ukrainian citizens living in Russia.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“Washington believes that elections need to be held in Ukraine. Many Ukrainians living in Russia should also be given the right to vote,” he said.
“The authorities in Kyiv can receive a mandate to make peace only through elections,” Lavrov claimed.
Recall that Vladimir Putin previously said that Ukrainians living in Russia should take part in elections in Ukraine; Zelensky rejected the idea.
The Kremlin leader also noted that Moscow is “ready to consider” stopping strikes deeper into Ukraine on election day if elections are held.
