“Kyiv must make a responsible decision on Donbas so there can be peace,” – says Russia’s deputy foreign minister

Ukrainian authorities must urgently make a responsible decision on Donbas so that a lasting peace can be established as part of settling the conflict.

This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by Mikhail Galuzin, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister.

He stressed that the issue is not some temporary ceasefire, but an окончательное, comprehensive solution. He noted that in order to end the fighting once and for all, it is important that the political elites in Kyiv “without delay make a bold, responsible political decision concerning Donbas—a decision in line with the work being carried out through the Russian-American channel.”

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again refused to withdraw troops from Donbas. He said that such a decision allegedly contradicts the country’s laws.
