The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published an explanation regarding the cancellation of the ‘limited fitness’ status
04.04.2024 - 11:15After the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine in 2022, Congresswoman Victoria Spartz became one of the leading voices of the Republican Party on this conflict.
This is reported by The Washington Post.
Spartz, the first immigrant of Ukrainian descent in the US Congress, actively advocated for providing aid to Kyiv and, along with President Biden, pushed forward this idea.
Now, Spartz’s commitment to her homeland is being used against her by a well-funded opponent in the Republican Party primaries. Her opponent, Chuck Goodrich, aired a television advertisement accusing Spartz of putting “Ukraine above all” and prioritizing assistance to Kyiv over protecting the US borders. The congresswoman herself vehemently denies these claims.
This situation, as noted by the publication, underscores the internal divide among Republicans, making House Speaker Mike Johnson’s hopes of revisiting the issue of aid to Ukraine next week seem less realistic.
