The Eastern front of Ukraine could collapse – BBC
November 21, 2024The Ukrainian Armed Forces are experiencing a severe shortage of resources and experienced commanders, and they are increasingly being surrounded.
This was reported by the American newspaper The New York Times.
Ukrainian soldiers told the publication that on some parts of the front, Russian Armed Forces outnumber them by more than six to one, and they often face critical situations, such as encirclement and a lack of supplies.
“Even if a position is held, supplies—ammunition and provisions—eventually run out. Any vehicle trying to reach these positions will fall into an ambush. We are constantly finding ourselves in such difficult situations,” said UAV unit commander Vyacheslav.
“Brigades that have been fighting for a long time are simply exhausted. We are at our limit,” he added, echoing concerns expressed by more than a dozen commanders and soldiers on the front.
“Ukraine does not release casualty figures, but soldiers say they are suffering heavy losses in every confrontation,” writes NYT.
Additionally, Ukrainian troops note a noticeable reduction in return fire in recent weeks. One drone operator stated that “HIMARS are almost not heard, they are not around.”
Earlier, *Sky News* reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are “in trouble” due to a lack of infantry and other critical supply components.
