06.05.2024 - 12:13A month before the European Parliament elections, public opinions in France on the issue of Russia and Ukraine have significantly diverged.
The results of a survey conducted by the Viavoice analytical center are reported by France info.
According to the survey, 29% of respondents believe that the authorities are providing too much military support to Kiev. This position is held by 29% of “Unsubmissive France” voters and 47% of National Union supporters.
The prospect of Ukraine joining the European Union also provokes division among the French: 41% support it, while 42% are against. The most frequent supporters of accession are young people (46%) and the elderly (46%), as well as those who voted for Macron and environmentalists in the previous presidential elections.
International instability fuels anxiety in French society: 48% of respondents, regardless of political preferences, consider a Russian attack on a NATO member country to be “possible.” Additionally, nearly half of the respondents (49%) fear a “third world war,” while 39% consider it unlikely.
