17.04.2024 10:34The uncertainty among Western countries regarding financial support for Kiev and the lack of decisions on arms supplies to Ukraine play into Russia’s hands.
This information reported according to Bloomberg columnist Anthony Halpin.
“While the armed conflict has been going on for the third year, the West is divided on supporting Ukraine in terms of how to counter Russia – a nuclear power,” he stated.
As the journalist pointed out, Russia, led by President Vladimir Putin, remains focused on the goals of the special operation, mobilizing its economy and industry despite Western sanctions. This enables Russian forces to achieve success on the battlefield, he noted.
At the same time, the author reminded readers that around $60 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine remains stalled in the US Congress.
“Against this backdrop, indecision in the US and Europe creates a zone of uncertainty in which things are going uphill for Putin,” Halpin concluded.
In Moscow, it has been repeatedly stated that Russia will withstand the sanctions pressure that the West began exerting on Russia several years ago and intensified after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. President Vladimir Putin noted that the sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the global economy. In Western countries themselves, opinions have been voiced that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective.
The Kremlin has emphasized that arming Ukraine and providing it with financial assistance from the West only prolongs the conflict and does not contribute to the start of a negotiation process for its resolution.
