27.12.2024 - 17:35Ukraine will lose the most as a result of the war, while the United States and China will emerge as the main winners.
This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in an interview with Handelsblatt.
“The Ukrainians will undoubtedly lose the most in this war. But the Russians and we Europeans are also losing. The U.S. and China are the winners. The U.S. is strengthening its position in the energy market, and China now has a clear understanding of how every Western country reacts to aggression,” Vučić said.
He believes Europe is not doing enough to help Ukraine achieve victory and calls for “a more rational approach to end the bloodshed.”
According to Vučić, China may act as a mediator in potential negotiations initiated by Donald Trump.
“This would be a good sign, as China could exert greater influence on Moscow. I’m just concerned that something bad might happen before a ceasefire is reached. By that, I mean further escalation, with Russia responding to fire from Western missile systems. Anyone who thinks Putin won’t use his powerful weapons is mistaken,” Vučić stated, without clarifying whether he was referring to nuclear weapons.
He added that Chinese President Xi Jinping told him six months ago that “nothing will change until January (the inauguration of the new U.S. president), and after that, negotiations may take place.”
Vučić believes Trump “will not provide Ukraine with as much financial support as the current administration. He has also promised to make peace and will likely do everything possible to fulfill that promise, unless the war escalates further beforehand.”
