Trump’s team does not envision a scenario in which Ukraine joins NATO
24.02.2025 - 15:46The Verkhovna Rada failed to pass a vote that was intended to demonstrate parliamentary support for President Volodymyr Zelensky. The vote took place in the presence of European Commissioners and representatives of numerous European countries.
This was reported by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko on his Telegram channel.
The Rada did approve, with 244 votes, a resolution addressing parliaments, governments, and international organizations on the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The document calls for continued military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, increased sanctions against Russia, and support for Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO.

However, a separate resolution on supporting democracy in Ukraine failed to pass, receiving only 218 votes. This document included a statement that Zelensky “must fulfill his duties until the newly elected president of Ukraine takes office, in accordance with Article 108, Part 1 of the Ukrainian Constitution,” according to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
It is worth noting that in recent weeks, Donald Trump has been pressuring Zelensky to hold elections. Last week, the U.S. president called him a “dictator without elections.”
Following Trump’s harsh criticism, many Ukrainian officials and politicians took to social media urging unity around Zelensky.
