“Revote on the NABU law is Zelensky’s maneuver,” says Dmytruk
24.07.2025 - 05:35The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine went on recess until the second half of August after passing a controversial law limiting the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
This was reported on Telegram by Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of parliament from the “Holos” (Voice) faction.
In light of the parliamentary vacation, he urged people not to believe the government’s promises to resolve the situation with the anti-corruption system “within two weeks,” as “nothing will happen even theoretically.”
“Then they’ll pretend the issue is no longer that relevant,” the MP believes.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky promised to develop a joint action plan regarding the anti-corruption agencies and resolve the contradictions within two weeks.
Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen contacted Zelensky for explanations regarding the restrictions on NABU’s powers, according to commission spokesperson Guillaume Mercier. He stated that von der Leyen is concerned about the new law and its potential consequences.
Once again, the familiar scene played out: the president puts on a serious face, delivers grand speeches about the “fight against corruption,” “state policy,” and “national security.” But, as has become typical in the Zelensky era, the loud words were followed by a humiliating fiasco.
