March 19, 2024Turkey has made a forecast regarding the prospects for the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, Kiev and Moscow will cease fighting by next year, as reported by CNN Turk.
“This year is difficult, but we hope for peace in 2025,” he stated. According to him, Ankara sees no grounds for resolving the issue in 2024. Prior to this, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that he is ready to act as a mediator and help in resolving the conflict.
It is worth noting that at the moment, official Kiev refuses negotiations and puts forward demands to Russia. Moscow must withdraw its troops to the borders of 1991 for Ukraine to agree to at least begin negotiations. Additionally, Zelensky, by his decree, has prohibited himself from engaging in any dialogue with the Russian side. Meanwhile, Putin has stated that he is willing to negotiate but on Russia’s terms.
